Now that climate change is hitting their wallets, perhaps New Zealanders will start demanding that their government produce the scientific evidence that justifies these new carbon charges and the disruption they will impose on our economy, said Owen McShane, chairman of the policy panel of the New Zealand Climate Science Coalition.

One would think that tax payers would be up in arms to have to pay for something the Government is imposing on them without any scientific evidence. But then …. it seems that Labour got out of having to answer to the tax payers again by clever talking and scheming.

They have carefully made sure voters won’t feel the impact of rising prices in their power bills or at the petrol pump until after the next election.

They have avoided backlash from forestry by backing down and agreeing to give them carbon credits and they have avoided a backlash from rich dairy farmers by giving them until 2013 a virtual free ride.

They have quietened worried pensioners by promising compensation to help low and fixed income people cover petrol price and electricity rises.

So I hear that Labour will also pay for low income earners electricity increases. Great for single parents on benefits but what about the rest. The increases won’t be compensated if you are earning a moderate income but on top of your petrol and electricity rising in price; your taxes will go up to pay for those being compensated.

But even though Labour has got past the initial tax payers they still have to get past the New Zealand Climate Science Coalition. Labour knows that they have every intention of putting forward the truth of global warming and Labour can’t afford for any voters to listen. So this may be how Labour will look to get around this. Using language is nothing new to the Left. They do it all the time.

Helen Clark has her eyes set firmly on winning a fourth term of office for Labour. As the Christchurch Press Political Editor Colin Espiner wrote in his excellent article The Prime of Helen Clark, “Clark cannot be underestimated. For her, being in government is not just about power. She wants nothing less than to shift the political paradigm; to permanently reposition Labour as a party of the centre, and as the natural party of government”.

The paper goes on to suggest that Labour should discredit the Climate Science Coalition by using Orwellian language, which is where the phrase actually means the opposite of what it says. Orwellian language involves using an expression like ‘free trade’ to describe what is in effect bureaucratic control, or ‘competition’ to describe protectionism. It is an extremely dishonest strategy since only those who closely follow what is going on are able to discern the truth from the lies.

The paper asks the critical question: How can Labour take charge of the language and frame important public debates in its own terms? In other words how can it best use language and ideas to manipulate the general public?

So what exactly is does Labour need to discredit.

“It’s well past the time that our Government should stop hiding behind the questionable opinions of the UN IPCC bureaucracy, and start devoting some of our research funding to studies within New Zealand of whether there is any linkage between emissions of carbon dioxide and variations in our temperatures. NIWA temperature figures show no increase in average New Zealand temperatures since the El Nino high of 1998, if anything we’ve been cooling. During this same period, we know that the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has increased by 4%, confirming that there is no linkage between emissions of CO2 and warming.

So does that mean the Global Warming tax collection is a scam or is it real?

On Friday, February 2, 2007 the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a document titled: Climate Change 2007: The Physical Science Basis, Summary for Policymakers. This is a political document. It is not the supposedly scientific document which is titled: IPCC Working Group I Contribution to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fourth Assessment Report: Climate Change 2007: The Physical Science Basis.

The “scientific” document is still being edited and will not be issued for several months. Yet the buggy whip media is using the political document to gin up hysteria among the gullible masses.

Well, that is interesting. We are not even using scientific evidence to back up man-made global warming. We are using political evidence. And the UN has given money to a certain group of scientists in the billions who are to confirm that the political paper is correct.

So where does that leave all the other scientists? Many scientists are afraid to speak up against the document because they are afraid they will lost their jobs and the funding that they need. Nothing new just your basic political blackmail.

But it seems some scientists have consciences and are starting to get together and speak up. One already has quit from being a part of the project because he won’t sign lies.
